William Wilberforce – A Hero

The following was written by William Wilberforce (depicted in the movie Amazing Grace) in 1797. It describes many homes in 2011 as well.

“Yet, is it not undeniable that with the Bible in our houses, we are ignorant of its contents; and that hence, in a great measure, it arises, that the bulk of the Christian world know so little, and mistake so greatly, in what regards the religion which they profess.” A Practical View of Christianity, p. 7.

How sad…

Is he right? Think of the Christian families you know. Does each member of the family truly know God’s Word?

What do you think fathers can do to change this?

What will you do as a father?

Will you begin a new habit today?

Will you open God’s Word and read it at the dinner table with your family?

The Greatest Need

Do you know the greatest need your son or daughter has?

If you did, would you make meeting that need your priority?

I remember introducing each of my children to my father. I looked forward to that moment with great anticipation. Each time there was a look of joy and great approval on his face.

Dad – have you introduced your children to your Father? He delights in that, and it becomes the beginning of a  very special relationship.

Feast or Famine

What is meal time like in your house? Is it a feast of is there a famine?

Can you imagine if your family members ate only one meal a week? They would die in a short amount of time.

The same concept applies to their spiritual health.

If we think that church for one hour a week  will feed our clan, then we are mistaken.
